Effects of the climate crisis on dermatology

Lecture by Dr Christina Hecker on 09.12.2024 from 18:15 at the Justus Liebig University Giessen

As future doctors, students at the Universities of Giessen and Marburg are aware of their position as important players in the mediation and mitigation of the climate crisis, would like to further their education in this regard and have created the elective subject "Climate Consultation - The Interjection of Climate Crisis and Health" for this purpose. 

The aim of the elective subject is to impart skills on both the content and the communicative-creative level on the subject of climate change and health.

Topics in the winter semester 24/25:

  • Basics of climate change and planetary health - heat and cardiovascular health
  • Lung health and allergies
  • Gynaecology
  • Dermatology
  • Mental health
  • Transformative action
  • Anaesthesia and environmental protection in hospitals
  • Climate communication/behavioural change/motivational conversation

On all dates, an attempt will be made to focus on health prevention and science communication of the topic as well as on points of contact in practice.
